Excellent choice.  Really good book.  Lovely.  Shame he's lost cred with
"Programming Windows with C#" after all these years of avoiding C++ and
MFC.

As the saying goes, some of my best friends use MFC.

I strongly suggest evaluating wxWindows for a nicer, cross-platform
windowing library:
