[sdiy] LEDs in variety of colors, was: LEDs history and age?

Hello Grant & SIDY,

I just bought 100 UV/purple LEDs (395 - 400nm) for $10.00 + $3.00 s/h on
ebay. They look really nice, but the lens is clear rather than diffused (I
did a little touch up with an emery board and 'viola!' a diffused version
with better off-axis visibility!) Here's a link. This guy sells 50 packs and
100 packs in all sorts of wacky colors (blue, UV, pink, and a rather
pleasant blue/green). I got the stuff within a few days and every one has
tested okay so far (tested about 40 pieces), so I have to say I'm pretty
happy with the deal.
