Your asssumptions are correct.
This is velocity sensitive keyboard, as stated in Goldmine catalog. Scanning circuitry scans twice more contacts than there are keys to determine travel time between first contact closing and the second. The faster key is hit, the shorter the time.
Aftertouch however is usually made with resistive strip laid below keys, more to keys front than key contacts. When key is pressed, resistance of this strip changes. This can be conductive rubber on 2 long contacts, or some forky style contacts etc.
