ok now that the VCA prob is taken care of I have made more progress! redid
the CV part because the CV was increasing 3914 gain while also increasing
VCA gain. a simple CV mirror fixed that. now I can use the circuit for
modulation. here is a sample where a triangle LFO fed to the input of the
Aztec and it's output being applied to the cutoff of a Synthacon VCF while I
manually change it's bit depth.

gonna be interesting to run the output into a quantizer and then a VCO. I'm
almost done with it now. need to redo the schematic, write up the procedure
for calibration, and tinker with a component value here and there still. I
am thinking about designing it with 2 cores, one with the 3914 and the other
with the 3916 and a switch to select which one goes to the output. but I'll
work on that later. then maybe I'll go the extra mile and make a 20 bit
version.
