[sdiy] OT: a question about wiring an audio setup

Trade offs either way. I have found that if you use short speaker leads,
the control of bass frequencies is better. This probably has to do with
the damping factor of the amplifier being compromised by the impedance
of the speaker cable. Bigger is almost always better here. Just don't
fall for the $200 foot garbage that people try to sell. 14 Gauge ought
to be sufficient. If you do go the longer route from the mixer to the
amp (RCA?) make SURE you get very low capacitance cables, as this WILL
effect transient response. For my bet, I would go with the longer
speaker wire and forget it. Good luck.
