I hope this newbie question from a new poster isn't too out of line...

I have skill with electronics assembly, and I understand the basics of
different components, but I am still struggling to find a good book or five on theory of design,
specifically for audioelectronics.

Basically, I can put together what someone else designed, but things like
theory of operationstill kind of throw me for a loop. I would like to be able to understand
why a good design is agood design, and likewise, why a bad design is what it is. Coverage of
tubes wouldn't hurt. :-)
Are there any good books anybody can point me to? The local book stores
are full ofelectronics books, but I have no way to tell which ones I would actually
want.
Thank you for your time.

Regards,
Darren Landrum
