I think a web forum might create a different community with a slightly 
different culture and maybe different interests. So you might get some 
cross fertilisation. If there's no overhead it might be worth trying just 
to see what happens.

Re: this list - is there any way to make the list address the default reply 
address? This is the *only* list I'm on - and also one of the very few of 
all of the lists I've ever been on - where replies go to individuals by 
default, and you have to use reply-to-all and then do some header editing 
to get your reply to where you want it to go.
