How about:

1. If you factor in your time, bear in mind that people make more than $0.25
an hour now-a-days.

2. By the time your done, you could have bought one for half as much, but it
wouldn't have a different knob on each pot shaft.

3. If you are SURE you have one of those in a box around here someplace, you
don't, but by looking through junk boxes, you will manage to forget what you
were doing anyway.
