[sdiy] WP-20 Mini Synth

Hi Nick

The WP20 is not what I would consider a synth but it is more of a sound generator. Its a very old design and I'm betting you will find far better ones. I whipped it up (I can hardly say designed) when I was very inexperienced in electronics 22 years ago. As a project it will provide: parts gathering, PC board making, soldering, and construction experience and you can make some half decently cool sounds with it but... The circuit designs are all very rudimentary and if I do say so myself quite low quality. My suggestion... keep looking and you will find a better design or even a kit. The WP20 link is more for historical information than anything.

I am designing a new sound generator that I will recommend to beginners as soon as it is completed its here:

Again the circuits aren't temp compensated or drift free but they are better than in the WP20. It will provide a newbie with a very fun device for making cool sounds and getting a better understanding of how electronic sound generation works.

Hope this helps.

Ray
