There has been a Teac 3340s for cheap at a place called Black Market Music
in LA for-ev-er. Somewhere around $200. Don't know if it works, but if
anyone wants it, I would be happy to go over there and run it through it
paces if you're seriously thinking of buying it.
Revoxs are easily retrofitted with not only a varible speed pot, but the
addition of a variable speed VC input and a switch to turn the erase head
off for that old Eno loop thing. I used to have the sketches on how to add
the VC input - in 1975. Possibly a web search could drudge it up.
Also, Otari made (makes?) EXCELLENT four channel half track machines with a
variable speed pot with a pretty wide range. If you can find them, STAY
AWAY FROM DOKORDER. Far away. Don't even glance at it, it may get it's
juice on you. Horrible things.
