I'm not a veteran in tapespliceing but I would recommend the Studer
B67. It is a professional taperecorder with provision for a simple
remotecontrol with pitchcontroll.
You can sometimes get them pretty cheap from radio and tv-stations,
universities and professional recordingstudios.
I have seen them for 100$ to 600$ a piece here in Sweden and i suspect
similar prices worldwide since most places that use them has movet to a
more digital workenvironment.
