Does it have anything in common with the "phonogene",
a device built in the late 50's / early 60's at the Groupe de
REcherches Musicales in Paris, when it was still headed
by Pierre Schaeffer ?
I'm not sure, but the above description (rotating 4 heads)
sounds familiar...
