Dear Synth-Wizards,
Is it possible to build a BBD out of discreet components today?


This may be one of those devices that did not start off in the age of tubes.
If I am correct in that assumption, then are we at the stage where the
analog BBD device can no longer be physically recreated without using the
original IC's? After all, there are some devices that were left in the tube
domain, and remain there today. Is that the case with a solid state analog
BBD as well?

If any of you wise gentlemen would be kind enough to shed a little light on
the history of these devices it may open up a few opportunities for
development.
