[sdiy] Speech Synth Chips sp0256

Michael,
Why take samples of something synthetic when you could sample yourself
creating the phonemes acoustically? With all of today's sound manipulation
software you would be able to create your own library of phonemes and burn
them into a wavetable ROM. You could pass them through a vocoder if you
insist on the qualities of synthesized speech.

Maybe it would be possible to just sample the output of such a chip and
then use the 59 samples for themselves ?

Has anybody tried that ? Or does the chip interconnect the phonemes in
some way ?
