are you sure the power point ground is good?
What I'm saying is, maybe the problem is that the earth pin on the power
socket is not connected properly. Try the same test in another room [or
even another building(!)]

Another thing to check is continuity from the earth pin of the power
cable to the case of the unit. [And, come to think of it, leakage from
active and neutral to the case too...]
