For those of a slightly 'rockier' sensibility, try the three early 80's King
Crimson albums (Discipline, Beat, Three of a Perfect Pair). Bill Bruford
used Simmons SDS drum kits from (I believe) the SDS 5 or 6 right up to the
SDS 9. He certainly goes well beyond the "late 70's disco 'peeooowww' "!!
