Thanks to all of you for the insight into VCOs. I am going to review the
designs mentioned here and try to keep an open mind. I do agree that it is
better to have multiples of simplicity at the core. My Rogue is very simple
and it sounds great for what it is, however it's the filter that does most
of the work. :)

My choice is simple, inexpensive (so you can have many) and yet stable
and precise. (I call that VCO3, its at my site.) :-) I gave it a large
sweep range so it can be used as a LFO as well. With that you're more
flexible.
