Yeh, I'm thinking I might, too.
No prob, I asked for an opinion on feasibility and got it :)

I wonder if I'd be better off doing it all in digital. Then I'd only
need 16 A/D's and 8 D/A's, the rest would be software ;) I don't know if
that would be any easier or not. Of course, the added advantage would be
later I could possibly add EQ, and compression/gating etc with more
code. Possibly make it use existing plugins.

But I think this is veering more and more away from "DIY"...
