Tim,

Not wishing to rain on your parade,
I looked into this a few years back, atmel have been touting this for a
while.
Its not bad, but its certainy no wonder synth.
Think Yamaha TG300 and you're close, its a nice concept, and I think aimed
at cheap PC soundcard/FCP(copyright Harry bissel).

As Paul S said, when I asked, you need some NDAs and an expensive SDK before
you can get near it.
