Ah yes, the ubiquitous 4069UB.  When I submitted my own vote for the 4007, I
thought about the 4069UB as a candidate.  The reason I chose the 4007 is that
(and please correct me if this is wrong) as far as I know, it is a dual
complementary pair plus an inverter.  "Complementary" to me means that the
transistors create a symmetrical output structure like the 4069UB, but the 4007
gives access to two of the drains and two of the sources.  This allows the 4007
(I think) to work like half of a 4069UB, or do other interesting things that
take advantage of the 4007 pin-out.  Certainly, if amplifier count per package
is an issue, and the extra connections to the transistors isn't an advantage in
a given design, then the 4069UB is indeed a sweet thing.  It is one of my
favorite toys.  Personally, I think that the combination of 4069UB and 4007 is
killer.  I built a sawtooth to triangle converter with one of each.
