I know that advances in chip making technology have been moving at a rather 
rapid pace for oh,  decades or something,  and when you want a processor or 
other complex part with a million or more transistors on it then it makes 
sense to go for the smallest geometry possible.  I guess I can see it too if 
the performance of some of the parts would improve,  as for example someone 
mentioning the higher frequency possible with a 74HC4046 as opposed to the 
original 4046.  Still,  since we have uses for transistors that will operate 
at higher than logic voltages,  it would be nice to have some logic parts 
that would as well.  I guess maybe I don't understand the economics of this 
stuff as well as I might,  or something.
