I actually do wear safety glasses when using a Dremel. However, there is a
slight risk of some of the debris from an exploded disk falling down
(around the glasses) into my eyes, probably not at high speed at that
point, but it will still be an eye irritation. (My father once had to go
have a small steel shaving drilled out of his eyeball. He was actually
wearing safety gear when he had his accident.) Then there is the
possibility of simply having Dremel shrapnel embedded in my face--in areas
not protected by the glasses.

Maybe I need to stand behind bullet-proof glass, and manipulate the Dremel
tool with robot arms like they use in some nuclear laboratories? :)

I'm somewhat surprised that no one seems to make a protective guard for
Dremel tools with abrasive cutting disks. That would be a nice thing to have.

Mind you, I'm not scared to death when operating the Dremel, even though it
might sound like it from this post. :)

I'm just too aware of the possible dangers, if something should go wrong,
and I'm always very "on guard" when using one.
