The bow of a violin does not however merely slide over the strings. 
Imagine a rather carried away violinist playing on anything more than two 
strings more or less in unison : the bow and strings interact not 
dissimilarly to how an axe and tree do. A certain interval of the violin 
string is displaced as a plucked guitar string is, with some 
considerations given to playing style.
