[sdiy] OT: Stamp/PIC w/ Basic suggestions?

Ryk,
Have you checked out the ComputerVoltageSources Yahoo group? It's
sort of a group project to design a board that has a microprocessor,
8 analog inputs, 8 analog outputs, MIDI, and an optional LCD display.
Since we are aiming for close code compatibility with the PSIM-1, and
also because the chip has a number of good attributes, we are using
(AFAIK) the BasicATOM Pro (basicmicro.com).

Target cost for the board is about $50. (By the way, Harry Bissell is
handling the PCB design.)

The basic system (no pun intended) does not have self-writable
storage, though we are certainly interested in that. Hopefully there
will be a way to add such storage for saving presets, patch data,
sequences, etc.

Check out the CVS group (and the PSIM-1 at synthmodules.com) for more
info. It might be just what you need, in which case your time can be
spent writing cool software rather than re-reinventing the wheel.
