Good man!

I was disappointed to read that all of the Eurorack modules don't play quite

But it will make zero difference to the sound, so who cares? If you build
your own case, why not use wood strips to fasten your modules to. You'll
only have to concern yourself with module height. You could make a cabinet
with three rows. One for Frac rack, one for Euro, and one for the bigs (8.75"
or 5U). Get a +/-12V and one +/-15V power supply and you'd have a really
flexible setup. It would then be easy to add modules from various makers and
unique one-offs from individuals. The only hurdle left is interfacing
between the three jack formats. Just make a bunch of patchcords with one
style of plug on one end, and another style on the other end. Problem
solved.
If you SDIY a lot then you may find having the different panel size option
to be a big plus.

"Its hard to put your head around a Serge or Buchla when all you've laid
your hands on are Doepfers, a Modcan, a .COM, and an M5."

If you understand those other synths then a Serge or Buchla should be no
problem. Both of those designers seemed to think outside the box. Maybe
that's a part of the reason for the mythical status.

"I had better not jump to any rash decisions with my modular, its hard to
deny my anxiety and actually plan things out! ;)

Nick. "

That's a good decision.

How much are you going to spend to get your system started?
What gear do you have that can interface with it?
