All of the above should give you something interesting. ;)
Remember the Serge and Buchla waveshaping cores are very different. The
Serge is linear up to a certain point, and then folds back down, so you
can cascade as many as you want. The Buchla is actually a parallel set of
deadband circuits (which I finally understand thanks to the folks on the
list). I gave a homework problem on it. ;)
Each circuit has the deadband point set differently, and they're added and
subtracted alternately to produce a zigzaggy function.
Rene once posted a great idea of using a 4069 to try to do Buchla's
trick.
I have a lecture on that online
http://users.ece.gatech.edu/~lanterma/ece4803 - I demo the Serge
wavefolder live - although the circuit I analyze is Ken's, since Ken's is
publically available. (I then show the students the crazy Buchla timbre
circuit).
I love my job.
Oh! Oh! a happy happy thing - at the ECE picnic on Friday, I was given the
2006 Best Junior Teacher award. This is given to a faculty person whose
been there less than 10 year (there's a Best Senior Teacher award for
people who have been there more than 10). Unlike other deparmental awards
that are decided by faculty, this one was voted on by the graduating
Seniors. The fact that it was orchestrated and decided on by the
_students_ means the world to me.
