Pretty much. Though like transistors, you have to do it at a constant
temperature, without handling the diodes. Set them up the day before in a
piece of that white "harry hates it" bread board. The following day measure
their voltage drop and record it on a piece of paper near by. Do so without
touching the diodes yourself, and do it in a "window of constant
temperature", for example before you turn the heater on in the morning.
