The design tools that are being used as part of the
Cambridge University-MIT Multidisciplibary Design Project (MDP)
are being placed on-line at http://www-mdp.eng.cam.ac.uk/index.html.
The design tools consist of a bootable Knoppix DVD (or CD) containing
Office Applications as well as the engineering applications QCAD,
Octave, Geda/PCB, RedTools and wxMaxima. ngSpice or GnuCAP (or both)
should be added in the future.
Also on the disk are the "Lessons in Electronic Circuits", electrical
and mechanical parts libraries and a wide variety of engineering
design guides.
The MDP consists of an open-source robot controller and a kit of
materials that will be used by students to create robotic projects.
The MDP Resource Library contains an excellent set of tools that are
free!
