I think it was mostly the floppy disk that slowed things down (slow to
load Cubase, slow to load arrangements). Dunno about Notator, but
Cubase crashed really often. Whereas Cubase SX on PC is dead stable (ok
so earlier PC versions of Cubase have their problems too..)

There are many possible ways of how to make Windows unstable and slow,
but with a bit of care and some fine tuning it can be a superb music
platform. And with a 2560x1024 dual flat screen display Cubase SX is a
joy to use.
Having said that though, I did manage to make some good music with my
old ST (and despite having to use old Akai samplers with pokey little
LCD screens .. but that's another story!)
