[sdiy] Roland 80017a clone and "refurbishing"?

I once opened a bad module to find what looked like corrosion on the 
resistors. I believe replacing resistors and caps with standard SMD ones 
would bring these modules back to life.

Now this is something I would like to see. I tried to build an 80017 out 
of three LM13700 but no luck! All I got was "weird distortion" and not 
that much of filtering...
