The knurled nuts work just fine with you finger nails. No tool  
required except for production. If you are worried about vibration, I  
would use a chemical anti-rotation compound you can find at hardware  
stores. Locktite makes a whole range of them.

The advantage of the knurled nuts is that the tool does not contact  
the faceplate like hex nuts. This prevents tool marks (scratches).  
You can always put some tape on your hex driver.
