One of the things I've always appreciated about synth-diy, and I've always mentioned when I talk about it, is that we have a unique forum where somebody can ask a naive question and get a remarkably insightful discussion out of it.  Because sometimes it's helpful to revisit the basics.

Of course they have to ask it in the right way.  Good faith and all.
