The cheap bluetooth equipped Wii Remote (you don't need the whole wii  
game system) can be converted to MIDI with a number of free third  
party mac/pc apps.

The main problem with MIDI is that it's more or less 7 bit "out of  
the box" unless you do some kind of kludge with multiple controllers  
for extra bits of resolution.

I'm hoping OSC will be more widely supported because it does open up  
a lot more digital resolution. It's supported a fair amount but a lot  
of the interfacing involving it still seems far from "plug and play"  
in terms of trying to configure it to work.
