On the topic of "Stacking inputs = bad":
Connecting CV outputs to one another ought to give the average of the 
two signals. The 281 does this nicely, and one can produce many 
interesting modulations this way. That being said, other CV outputs 
don't quite have this property (266, 259..).

Connecting pulse outputs to one another or's them, sustain and all.
