Re: 250e to EMS Synthi?

I don't have an 250e but I have externally sequenced an AKS. I never hear of anyone interfacing 200e and EML stuff :-) (amusing I'm sure for those that have struggled with interfacing it's already 1.2v/oct gear but back to the topic...) What you have do depends on to what degree your synthi has been modified. From stock you have no gate input. You could bring one out to a new jack or one of the less used existing jacks up top with a well known mod or you can get one of those strange multipin keyboard connectors and break that out to separate plugs. My Synthi had the former already done to it but I'm now using the later. Ebay user Synthidreams occasionally has breakout connectors with trimmers as a "buy it now" on ebay but not all the time or in large numbers. If you can get the male keyboard connector plug it's not that big a deal to build one. I think it's expecting 5v so I'd be a bit careful before you send it the 10v trigger. For the CV, some people have a 1v/oct mod done, which isn't ideal for the Buchla though it is closer than stock. Not really necessary here though. You can send the CV in through an external input jack then there is an input level knob you can use to lower the level until it tracks to your CV. Now that I have a breakout cable for the keyboard input connector mentioned above, I can just adjust the little trimmer attached to the cable to get the CV scaled. The trick to scaling to someone who hasn't done it is to keep adjusting to an octave of CV gives you an ocatve of pitch. You can ignore what the pitch is exactly. Once you have an octave you just adjust the knob on the osc to be the right pitch. Nick
