Richard at Avantgarde Festival Schiphorst 2010

I was kindly invited to perform at this year's Avantgarde Festival Schiphorst (http://www.avantgardefestival.de) by Jean-Hervé Peron, one of the founding members of Faust and a man of infinite patience. The festival was held this year from July 2-4 on Jean-Hervé's farm in Schiphorst in northern Germany, not far from Hamburg. So, in what turned out be an historic European heatwave, we found ourselves over the Fourth of July weekend at "the most relevant live event for experimental arts in western Europe", sometimes referred to as "three days of Utopia" - and it was. I performed a solo film and music set on Friday night, did a Saturday morning ambient mix set on Avantgarde FM, a low-power multi-channel local broadcast station set up for the festival by Nathan Siter, and on Sunday afternoon performed a set of improvisations and Messaien transcriptions with Thereminist Thomas Zunk. Richard at Electro-Music 2010, September 10-12

Also, I'll be performing solo with my 200e system and in several collaborations, as well as giving a seminar on Intermediate Analog Synthesis, at Electro-Music 2010, "the Woodstock of electronic music", September 10-12, 2010, at the Greenkill Retreat Center in Huguenot, NY. Over 50 artists from all disciplines of electronic and experimental music are currently scheduled to perform, along with workshops, demonstrations, seminars, jam sessions, swap meets, and a laptop battle.
