1) will the 222e rings work with lightning batons (and vice-versa)?
2) what's the effective operational range of the 222e rings? this page:

says lightning supports 12' x 20' spaces; can the 222e rings do this  
as well?

I thing the ranges were optimized very differently. One for larger  
gestures from a distance, and the other for closer, intimate, gestures.
