Re: [50g] Re: Cards, connections, software and how?

2011-01-06 by MDerr44995@aol.com

One reason that some writers are discussing 2 GB SD cards may be that 1 GB
and smaller cards are getting a little hard to find on store shelves in
some parts of the world, while 2 GB cards remain readily available. I have
not tried a 2 GB card in my 50G, but firmware of some of my other devices
limits them to 1 GB. When I try to use 2 GB cards, they either don't
function or become very slow and prone to crashes.

Mike

I have the 50G with an HP 256Mb SD card, as has been mentioned in this
forum user's of the 50G are attempting to use SD Cards which are far too large
for even the 50G. HP recommends SD Cards no larger than 1Gb for the 50G as
any larger will lead to a premature burn out of the 50G.
Well, I'm something of a programming packrat. I keep everything I do, and
everything that others do on the Net, meticulously sorted, so I have A LOT
of programs, and a little bit of a ton of everything else. I also kept my
48GX Libraries that I used for years in the Aerospace Industry (I used a
48GX for the first time the week they came out, and never looked back. I
remember it mostly for the financial sting; it cost me an entire pay check at
one go! I considered trying to get a loan to buy one!)
So I carry an unbelievable amount of stuff. I even have Saturn based stuff
by the boatload, just in case I run into another 48GX someday.
It seems to me I do remember what you mentioned about the cards. If 1 GB
is all the machine will handle, why is everyone pushing 2 GB cards? (Other
than the most obvious reasons, that is.) and here's the kicker..
I still keep my slide rule on my desk :) Just in case..Old habits die hard.
