is ther an overlay or a scale template drawing that can be used to

I remember there used to br such things. I have never seen them 
advertised for the Hp 48 or subsequent. Perhaps if you searched a 
commercial web site specialising in calculators?

They did hove overlays for the HP48 <i still use them> at least at
first. but seems it was dropped.

I guess I will need to make my own. Really strange that for a key
board that is completly assignalbe that there are no overlays. Also
there are no snap in points in the 50G design. So it looks like an
oversight or just a don't care attitude about it?

When I get this calculator figured out at least to do what I want I
will share the set up an programs with the group. I work in an
engineering service company in Oregon USA. we have to work in imperial
units so it is a constant conversion process or use some of the ft
inch calculators that are already made for that purpose. I have used a
lot of these types but they are cumbersome and take time and thinking
from the job at hand. At least that is the way it is for me. 

My concept is to be able to do math on imperial units as if they are
decimal on the calculator so that it is seamless almost in principle
working the keys for +,-,/,* as well as doing trig functions for
simple triangulation work. Pretty much construction is triangles, some
 circles. 

10.0115 = 10'-1 15/16 for example so input is easy for fractions.
converstion from imperial to decimal is seemless and almost no mental
gymnastics for working the imperial units for the math needed. 

Also I think some of the ideas my be usefull to new users of the 50G.
Some of you geeks that are way beyond my understanding may find it
boring or even archieic in my design of the programs. I hope the geeks
out there might provide some ideas to improve or add to the
functionality of my calculator.
