HP50G dead...

HP50G dead...

2008-02-03 by dl9sec

Hi,

tried to switch on my HP50G after some weeks, but nothing happens. I
changed the batteries (main and backup battery) but the calculator
seems to be dead.

Some ideas how to reanimate that thing?

Regards, Thorsten

Hi
Did you press the reset button? (in the back, with a paper clip).
Also try plugging it into the USB.

Good luck!

Greetings,
Mike Bryant

The only other option (without calling HP tech support) is to try leaving all batteries out of the calculator for at least 24 hours. My batteries (NiMH) went dead and messed my calculator up until I did this. Leaving the batteries out and letting the Machine sit cleared out the bad data.

Bon chance!

Try removing the back up battery and the main batteries then hold in the reset button. Next, clean the battery leads with isopropyl alcohol and replace with fresh batteries.

Good Luck

This is a longshot...

Used to be that you could let the thing sit in a _warm_ room for about a month,
and they would sometimes "reanimate."

If this question arrived at the list in July, I wouldn't mention it, but it is
winter.

Hi Aliza,

that's it!!
Cleaning the the leads was not nescessary but removing all batteries
and pushing the reset brought my 50G back to life.
Thanks a million for this great hint.
