Thanks for all the responses on the various muso lists I posted this query. I've received an email off-list from someone who suggested that I buy a draughtman's chair. Item number 377744 at www.staples.co.uk provides a good example and it's just the sort of thing I was looking for. So I think I'll be paying a visit to Staples or somewhere like that tomorrow.
