Hi Gerry !
the battery is hold in its socket by a metal clip (spring) . Use a small 
screwdriver or a knife blade as a lever to slip it out. It is not 
soldered and you cannot go wrong putting the new one in place (the minus 
side is slightly smaller than the plus).
