Re: [AN1x] Hello from a newcomer + question

2012-06-05 by ubergvx

I really need to check this group more often. I've been trying to fix/replace my AN1x ribbon for *2 years* now. I posted about it on 3/5/10 (post 11726), 10/16/10 (11982), 10/29/10 (11999), 11/3/10 (12005), 1/5/11 (12031), 9/19/11 (12298).

To recap, the ribbon on AN1x unit #1 started doing the random changes you desdcribe. I took it apart, peeled back the plastic, wiped it clean, still didn't work; I assumed it was because its previous owner had put a fingernail dent in it. I couldn't find a source for a replacement, so left it disconnected so it wouldn't cause trouble. Then the ribbon in my unit #2 failed the same way, so I had to disconnect it too :-( .

I made another effort to find a source online and finally succeeded. I found Yamaha24x7 (https://www.yamaha24x7.com/YamahaOMS/BasePages/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fyamahaoms%2fdefault.aspx) which supposedly had the part: just the ribbon sensor itself, part #VY687100. I ordered it in December 2011 and intended to post here if & when I had success in installing it. But it never came, despite my order confirmation form saying it was on the way. After a couple of months, I called Yamaha24x7 and they told me it was out of stock - but that I could order the whole ribbon controller assembly (ribbon, circuit board, etc,), part #VY664600.

Seeing this post prompted me to order it. The sensor alone, if it had been available would have been $49.50 US. The full assembly is $80.87 US. Expensive, but I really miss my ribbon! I will post again when I get it and see if it fits and works.

I just noticed that the Yamaha24x7 site I used is "for USA customers only" so you'll have to find another site for Italy. I don't remember how I found the USA site, but suggest going to the Yamaha corporate site where you can select your country - and then hope there's a parts source available for you too. Good luck!

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
