Not to confuse things, as Gary's answer makes sense, but what about using MIDI CC #011 'Expression' as an alternative to #002 'Breath'? In my AN1x/ASR-X combo I use #007 only to set a maximum Volume limit for each ASR-X Track and #011 to adjust the level of the individaul sound(s) assigned to each Track. Since I'm no wind instrument player I use CC #002 as one of my default MIDI CCs for real time assignments, i.e., typically assigned to whatever sound or FX parm I want to modulate in real time.
