Given the development time of such a product - and it was a whole new area
for both Roland and Yamaha - I doubt that the prime criterion of the AN1x
was to compete with the JP8000. Although it could be that the Japanese have
some industrial espionage going on, or leaks within their design department.

If anything, both look like a reaction to the Nord Lead.
