A 2nd hand cs1x can be had for about the price of a phatboy...so why not go that road, get some free sound thrown in AND some keys? Yes, but the CS1x has only six knobs and more importantly, only two of those six are user assignable - as opposed to the AN1x where all eight may be programmed. Another issue - the AN1x can only have one 'set' of eight Assign knobs where as some of those 3rd party boxes from Encore, Kenton, and Peavey can have multiple sets in memory simultaneously. This permits you to reconfigure the faders/knobs much more quickly then on the AN1x proper. This is real time saver if you want to use the same hardware controller to control more than one synth. regards, Jon
