Excellent....I bought mine about a year ago...never experienced the popping until about a month ago (or maybe I heard some of it once or twice but it went away right after warmup).

Then it started happening. I had an inkling (i.e. a small bit of ink...no...just kidding) that it seemed to me related to the preset it was on when I had turned it off. But I never got that far...sounds like you found the problem!
