Hi Mark,

See the top of page 82 in Owner's Manual. "When set to 'bar', the 
Free EG record and play time is determined by the Tempo 
setting in the VOICE COMMON menu."

If you reduce the Tempo value below 40 bpm the display should 
read 'MIDI' indicating the AN1x will slave to MIDI Clock recieved at 
the MIDI In port. This setting is set per Voice, not globally.
