In some early discussions, Bob had promised that MIDI would be downstream of the mechanical connection between the controllers and the engine. Also downstream of the CV. So anything played on the Voyager, should be buttery smooth. Also anything controlled by Voyager using CV (control voltage). By contrast, I imagine any Voyager functions controlled by MIDI will have the 128 steps, unless Bob created a lag processor (a smoothing function) specifically to address the issue. I believe Andromeda uses MIDI to drive the internal engine (or at the least it uses digital control) but does some processing to smooth the functions. As does the Virus. As do some of the Kurzweils (PC2 and K2600). Not sure about any other synths. Cheers, Jerry
