A year ago I replaced an MPC2000 with Logic Audio Gold and a Unitor8 interface. Rock solid timing with this combination. Peter is right though that Logic has a steep learning curve, it took me a while to get to grips with. But great software. If you don't need more than 32 channels of audio editing then Gold would be a good choice. Gold has most of the feature of Platimun but less audio channels. As far as sound cards go, It all depends on your exitsing set-up really.
